"Twenty bucks if you land this next try"
As a skate filmer, I said that all the time. Cash challenges have always been a part of skateboarding.
In 2020, someone in a skateboarding Facebook said they'd Cash App the first person to do any trick down this random gap in Nashville. I filmed myself ollie it, and the dude stayed true to his word. The idea for NBD Finder was born.
In 2021, I started doing market research and took a startup accelerator course to fast-track my idea. After extensive research, I knew the idea was good but it would take a ton of resources to build, so I shelved the idea.
In 2023, I started learning about software development so I could land a job in IT. This was around when I used ChatGPT for the first time.
In 2024, I got my first job in IT as a project manager. I tried using the skills I was learning at work to build NBD Finder in Wordpress, but realized it wasn't going to work the way I wanted with an off-the-shelf solution, so I shelved the idea again.
In 2026, I started coding with AI. This time, the idea stuck. I used everything I was learning at my job and all my experience with marketing and web development to create NBD Finder. It's the app I would have wanted when I was 17 or 18, cruising around looking for spots with my crew.
I don't know when it's going to launch, but I'm excited to see how it's received by the skate community.
